Temporary Ceasefire Holds in Devastated Town of Oleshky
A temporary ceasefire is in place in Oleshky, a Russian-occupied town that the BBC describes as devastated. Ukraine correspondent Dan Johnson explains how the pause is unfolding on the ground, and what the halt in fighting means for people still living there.
Context
Context: Oleshky is in southern Ukraine, on the Dnipro river, and has been under Russian control since the early months of Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022. Short local pauses like this are usually fragile, so they do not end the wider war between the two countries.
