Telangana voter roll: high share of rejections flagged
Form-6 applications, used to add a name to the voter list, have been rejected at a notably large rate in Telangana. Rejections now make up close to 27 per cent of Form-6 applications processed in the pre-SIR and SIR phases. Form-7 deletions were also high in the same period.
ContextContext: Under the Special Intensive Revision, the Election Commission updates electoral rolls, and Form-6 is used to add a name while Form-7 is used to object to or remove one. Rejections and deletions are closely watched because they decide who can vote.
