Karnataka Targets 30 GW Renewable Energy in Five Years
Karnataka has set a target to add 30 GW of renewable energy capacity over five years. Gaurav Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary of the Energy Department, says the state plans 41.5 GW of new wind and solar capacity and about 11,000 MWh of battery energy storage by 2034-35.
Context
Karnataka is a major solar and wind state, and India has committed to a large share of non-fossil power by 2030. Battery storage matters because solar and wind output varies with weather, so storing power helps keep supply steady.
