DGFT Services to Go Fully Digital by March 2027

Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has set March 31, 2027 as the deadline for fully digitising DGFT services, including licence, permit and SCOMET approvals. From April 1, businesses will no longer need to visit government offices in person for these services.

Context

DGFT, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade, issues the import-export licences and permits that traders need. Moving these services online is part of a wider push to cut paperwork and make government services easier for businesses.
