Man Held for Altering Aadhaar and PAN Card Details
A man has been arrested for changing Aadhaar and PAN card details, and was reportedly charging Rs 300 to change a person's date of birth. His customers used the altered documents to get SIM cards, benefit from government schemes and win jobs at private factories.
Context
Aadhaar is India's 12-digit ID number and PAN is the tax ID, and both are used to verify identity for SIMs, welfare and jobs. Fake changes to these records can let people pass checks they should not, which is why such cases matter.
