Fungus Carries Water Between Plants, Helping Them Grow

Researchers at Northern Arizona University separated plant roots by a 3 mm gap, then added a fungus called dark septate endophytes. The fungus linked the plants and moved water between them, and connected plants grew more than twice as much. The experiment shows how fungi can shape plant growth.
