Three Held for Supplying 83 Mule Accounts to Cyber Fraudsters

Three people from Hyderabad have been held for supplying 83 mule accounts to cyber fraudsters. The gang allegedly handed over account kits with passbooks, ATM cards, linked SIM cards and other documents to two people. The fraud involved Rs 10.05 crore siphoned off from victims.

Context

Mule accounts are bank accounts opened or rented so criminals can move stolen money through them, often for a small payment. Such accounts are a common route for online scams, so banks and police watch them closely.
