COP31 Talks in Türkiye: What to Expect
Close to 200 countries are gathering in Türkiye for the COP31 climate talks as climate risks mount across the world. Negotiators are set to focus on money for vulnerable nations, the future of fossil fuels, and the fading 1.5°C target, which is the goal of limiting global warming.
Context
Context: COP is the UN's yearly climate summit, where countries negotiate action on warming. The 1.5°C goal comes from the 2015 Paris Agreement, which aimed to keep warming near that level above pre-industrial times.
