NASA Images Show Antarctic Island Shaped Like a Skull
NASA satellite images show an island in Antarctica that looks like a giant skull, with a rocky eye visible in the pictures. The images also reveal unusual changes in the ice cover around it. Such pictures help scientists study how the frozen continent is changing.
Context
Vega Island lies near the Antarctic Peninsula, a region where scientists track ice loss and temperature change closely. Satellites like those used by NASA let researchers watch such changes from space without being on site.
