Rupee Falls to 94.55 Against US Dollar
The Indian rupee fell 9 paise to 94.55 against the US dollar in early trade. Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, was trading 1.04% lower at $93.64 per barrel in futures trade. A weaker rupee can make imports costlier.
Context
Context: The rupee is India's currency, and its value is compared with the US dollar. India buys much of its oil in dollars, so a weaker rupee and higher oil prices can push up fuel and import costs.
