Seventeen remand prisoners escaped from a sub-jail at Thekkampatti near Andipatti in Theni district on October 26. Special teams recaptured them over the next two days. Tamil Nadu's Prisons DGP, Sandeep Rai Rathore, has now been transferred. The transfer came only days after the escape.
