India rejects patent bid for drug-resistant TB treatment
India has turned down a patent application for a treatment for drug-resistant tuberculosis. Civil society groups have asked the US-based Global Alliance for TB Drug Development to withdraw related patent claims in other countries.
பின்னணிContext: Patents give companies exclusive rights to sell a drug, which can keep prices high, so decisions like this affect how cheaply TB medicines reach patients.
