Special Voter Roll Revision Begins in Six Regions

The Election Commission has announced a Special Summary Revision of voter lists in four states and two union territories: Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Odisha, Sikkim, Chandigarh, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. The revision updates electoral rolls, the lists of people eligible to vote, in these areas.

Context

Electoral rolls are revised from time to time so that eligible new voters are added and ineligible names are removed. The Election Commission has also run the larger Special Intensive Revision (SIR), which has been a major debate in Parliament this year.
