927 New Karnataka Doctors Assigned Government Service
927 MBBS graduates in Karnataka have been assigned compulsory government medical service for one year. Candidates who quit midway will be penalised. Anyone absent for 30 days will not be allowed to rejoin. The conditions apply to every candidate placed in the scheme.
Context
Compulsory service means newly qualified doctors must work for the government for a set period before they can practise freely. Such schemes help bring doctors to public hospitals, which often face shortages of staff.
