Bihar Plans Flood Control Using River Silt
Bihar has launched a new flood control plan. It will use river silt, the sand and mud carried by rivers, to build roads.
Context
Bihar, in eastern India, faces yearly floods during the monsoon, when rivers like the Kosi and Gandak carry heavy loads of silt. Flood plans often aim to reduce damage while also finding useful ways to handle the material dug out of rivers.
