Afghanistan Reach Sixth in ICC ODI Rankings, Their Best
Afghanistan has reached sixth place in the ICC men's one-day international rankings, its highest ever. The team has moved past Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh. The climb follows a 4-0 series win over Ireland and a run of strong recent results.
Context
The ICC ranks teams using points from recent international matches, so a ranking rise reflects results over time. Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh are established Test-playing nations, so passing them is a notable step.
