Textile PLI scheme extended to 2033-34 with easier entry rules
The government has extended the Production Linked Incentive scheme for textiles until 2033-34. The change is meant to bring in more companies by relaxing eligibility norms for investment. The textiles ministry has also reduced the minimum turnover required, aiming to boost MSME participation.
ContextContext: PLI schemes pay companies incentives tied to sales of goods made in India, to encourage local manufacturing and reduce imports. Textiles is a labour-heavy sector, and MSMEs, or micro, small and medium enterprises, make up much of its workforce.
