E-Way Bill Numbers Get Longer From January 2027
The GST Network (GSTN) will lengthen e-way bill numbers to 14 digits from January 2027. The backend change aims to prevent numbering shortages as document volumes rose nearly 83% over four years to 1.42 billion in FY26.
