FSSAI Suspends 14 Hyderabad Restaurant Licences Over Hygiene

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has suspended licences of 14 restaurants in Hyderabad, including Hotel Nayaab and Shah Ghouse, over unhygienic kitchens, pest infestations and expired food. Eight others, including Taj Falaknuma Palace and Pista House, have received show-cause notices, a formal request to explain themselves.

Context: FSSAI is the national regulator that sets and enforces food safety rules for restaurants and packaged food across India. Licence suspension is one of its strongest actions, and show-cause notices give a business a chance to respond before any final decision.
