Boil and filter drinking water for seven days in parts of Mumbai region
The BMC has told residents in parts of Mumbai, Thane and Bhiwandi to boil and filter their drinking water for seven days. The advice follows the recommissioning of a repaired reservoir at the Pise-Panjrapur water supply complex. The civic body warned that water quality could be affected.
ContextContext: BMC is Mumbai's municipal corporation, and it supplies water to the city through large reservoirs and pipelines. After a repaired reservoir restarts, the first water can carry sediment or contamination, so boiling is a simple safety step.
