India's Heritage Foods Eye Global Market Gains
Vrihi Foundation, an agri-food thinktank, has released a new report on indigenous farm and forest produce. It looks at items such as turmeric, jamun and mahua, and how they could build stronger value chains, markets and policy support. The aim is to help these local products reach more buyers, including those abroad.
Context
Context: Mahua is a flower and fruit gathered from forests in central and eastern India, and jamun is a local fruit. Many traditional foods are sold by small producers, so organised supply chains can raise the earnings of farmers and forest communities.
